Gluten Free Detroit Metro is new to the blog sphere so for a few weeks a segment called Meet & Greet will run to introduce the family behind the blog. After reading please take a minute to introduce yourself and let us know if you would like to see something special here.
Introducing Gluten Free Baby, and her first ear of corn. The children and I picked up some peaches and cream corn at the Birmingham Farmers Market yesterday. It was nice to have a non-waxy corn with great flavor. It was so good that it didn’t need basil butter but we used it anyway. As you can see the baby was smitten with the ability to hold and eat it by herself.
We arrived at the farm market earlier in the day to try and beat the already building heat. That meant we had a light breakfast and everyone was hungry for some lunch on our arrival. A stop by the Panini Press proved to be a bit of a letdown as they were not prepared to make gluten free sandwiches. The Gluten Boy was able to order a Philly Post sandwich thought and he was happy with that.
Lastly the Gluten Free Girl was able to eat eggs from the vender next to Panini Press. It wasn’t exactly what she wanted but with a Sprite she was satisfied. She topped off her breakfast with a sample of caramel popcorn from Will Cole. Two sugar items and eggs is always a way to make the girl happy.
Our farm market experience ended with a lavender plant for myself and a manditory park stop. The kids loved the park and sliding down the hill on cardboard boxes. The rubber path was great for a toddler unsteady on her feet and I had to coax little people out of the tunnel. Despite the misting machine under one of the climbing bridges the heat proved to be too much.
Our excursion ended with a stop at our local splash pad.
